About Us:
CORNERSTONE Counseling Center was started in 1997 with the primary goal to conduct Domestic Violence Treatment in Ventura County. Cornerstone developed a specific proprietary curriculum for treatment has been an approved provider in Ventura County since 1997. We are pleased to announce our partnership with CIGNA, Anthem, United Health Care, Tri Care and the NFL Players Association. We offer behavioral health, counseling, family therapy and personal coaching services to current or former NFL Players. Please see the Class Schedule for more information on all our services.
Scott Barrella holds a M.S. in Educational Psychology from California State University, Northridge. He has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 25 years, working with individuals and groups and families and is currently in private practice in Ventura County, California. While in private practice, he has supervised a number of MFT interns who have gone on to become licensed.
Scott Barrella, MS, LMFT is the owner, founder and Clinical Director at Cornerstone Counseling Center. Based in Ventura County, CA Cornerstone is approved by the Ventura County Courts (both Family and Criminal Law) to offer a variety of court-mandated programs since 1997. Mr. Barrella has authored several books on treating Batterers (52-week Model) and Co-Custody Parenting (12 Lesson). He developed and implemented the first Domestic Violence counseling program for inmates in Ventura County, CA jails. He has presented BBS-Approved CEU workshops throughout California to over 4,000 participants. Mr. Barrella is an adjunct faculty member at CSU Northridge in the Educational Psychology Department. He is a sought-after resource who has consulted with NBC Dateline, the Dr. Phil Show, and been a guest expert on dozens of radio shows. Mr. Barrella also appeared as a guest expert on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and worked with the show producers on several other Oprah shows addressing the topic of partner abuse.
